Case description: Emborrhoid

  • Perform superior rectal arteries embolization using copolymer (Onyx™18).
  • Liquid agents : Real-time display of embolic agent distribution.
  • Deep penetration / Distal embolization to minimize the risk of recurrence (via the middle rectal artery).
  • Use of the plug & push technique to fill the vascular bed. Be patient when using copolymer: inject slowly, take breaks, beware of reflux.
  • Fill as many branches as possible from a single injection point.
  • No greater risk of ischaemic complications with liquid agents than with mechanical agents or particles.
